Quest, presented here, depicts three poses of a young woman diving to the bottom of Lake Michigan.
The painting has been accepted for the 2025 Northwest Michigan Regional Juried Exhibition from January 24 – May 25, 2025.
Revisiting the earlier theme of diving to the lake’s depths, I explore the physics of water flow during descent, the swirling sand as the diver balances on one leg at the bottom, and the spiral of motion ascending toward the surface. Seen from the lakebed, the surface transforms into a living mirror, rippling with the diver’s reflections and merging the surreal with the scientific in a fluid dance of light and motion.
The title Quest frames the painting as a journey of exploration into depths meaningful to the viewer. The underwater setting, dynamic movement, and interplay of light and color emphasize that this is not a static or straightforward journey but one requiring courage and trust in the process.

It’s beautiful.
I am glad that you like it. Thank you.
Birgit,
Breath taking color exploration and movement dynamics,
Hope to view it @ Dennos,
Cindy
Thank you, Cindy. I am allowing my imagination more and more free reign within the confines of physics, while at the same time giving voice to my mythical inclinations
